A prominent figure in the Beat era of the 1950s and 60s, ruth weiss, will read her poetry with musical accompaniment by Hal Davis. She will also screen three of her film shorts, ruth weiss Meets her Prometheus, Vienna Class, and Las Cuevas de Albion. Her classic film, The Brink (1961) will also be shown. David Reid hosts. Wednesday November 11, 7pm Artists' Panel Discussion: David Reid will lead a conversation with artists and artist representatives: Joseph Slusky, Peter Scaturro, Olga Yunak, Marko Yamagata, Paul Belasky (representing Henry Elinson) and Shane Weare (speaking on the life and work Howard Margolis). Audience question/answer period will follow. Refreshments. Free. Friday November 13, 7pm Traditional Appalachian Music. A musical duet with Brian Godchaux on fiddle and Sandy Rothman on banjo. Refreshments. Free. Saturday November 14, 7pm Two-Tone Poetry and Jazz CD Release Party. David Meltzer and Julie Rogers with Zan Stewart on saxophone. Refreshments. David Reid hosts. Suggested donation $5-$10 sliding scale. Friday November 20, 7pm Jazz and Stories. Tenor Saxophonist and author, Zan Stewart, will mix stories about Jazz musicians, artists and poets--derived from his years as a music journalist - with performances of pieces relating to these artists.
