The Wise Fools of Gotham perform at Mythos Firehouse Gallery
Saturday, July 19th, 3-5pm, admission $5.
Vocalist Colleen Segale, Guitarist Josh Reilly, and bodhran player Russ Bennett come together for the first time as the Wise Fools of Gotham in this acoustic show at the Mythos Firehouse Gallery. Playing traditional Irish, Scottish, and English folk music, their styles range from gentle airs of love to lively songs of drinking and other mischief.
Colleen Segale fell in love with fairy tales and Celtic music as she was growing up in Albany, California. She has performed in rock and blues concerts, at traditional Celtic sessions in San Jose and Santa Cruz, at the Renaissance Faire, and at the Fantasy Faire in San Jose,
Russ Bennett went to work overseas at the age of 20 playing percussion to entertain military personnel. In addition to the bodhran Irish frame drum, he now plays the Brazilian pandiero, Middle Eastern darbuka, tar, congo, cajon, and bongo, as well as the full drum set. | Josh Reilly developed his guitar style playing with "various garage bands" and studying with Celtic guitarist Bill Coulter in Santa Cruz. He performs guitar and mandolin at Celtic sessions and gigs in Santa Cruz County, and also plays in a Santa Cruz jazz trio.
